Capturing moments in life is what inspires me. What drives me is the determination to capture that one moment that often passes us by.
I am an Australian photographer having worked and lived in both Ireland and Australia, I am now based and working Sydney CBD and suburbs. Having grown up in Australia, my days were spent living an outdoor lifestyle with a desire to see as much of the world as possible. I’ve been lucky, I have extensively traveled and through that I’ve come to appreciate all things good in life, diverse cultures, good food, and the good nature of people in general.
My history as a photographer is diverse with freelance experience in particular areas such as product, fashion, runway, media and portrait photography. I studied at the Australian Centre for Photography, I’ve learnt my craft through hard work and persistence, it’s something I pride myself on. I find the best challenge in photography is also the most rewarding and that is to keep pushing yourself, challenge yourself and be honest to yourself.
Recent contracts in the fashion industry have seen me photograph at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2012 & 2013, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival 2012 and Fashion Palette 2012 & 2013.
Since moving to Ireland I have been commissioned to photograph for Fashion156 at London Fashion Week 2013. London is one of the big 4 Fashion Weeks around the world and to work in this type of intense environment takes control, self discipline, guts and an edge. Your job is to get the ‘shot’ and you only get one chance in this environment.
While freelancing in the fashion media world I also work as a portrait, commercial & online product photographer. I have experience in both studio and natural light photography. I love the control shooting in studio brings. Have you ever noticed how a bad image online can turn you off selecting the ‘add to basket’ button? I have and it’s such a shame. A good photo takes control.
There is one question a photographer is always asked…what brand are you? And with that I tell you, I am a Nikon user, I shoot with the Nikon D800 body and lenses of choice are the Nikon 24-70mm, 70-300mm and 60mm macro. I have 2nd body on each shoot and my Nikon SB910 flash is always at my side. I may be a Nikon user but I believe it doesn’t matter what brand of camera you use, or that you have the latest new gadget, I believe it’s talent, skill and dedication that produce a stand out image, not the brand of camera you or I are holding.
